ADOLESCENT OBEDIENCE CLASS

CATCH-UP

If you missed the opportunity for basic training and socialising at puppy class, there may still be time to catch-up. If you want to get your adolescent dog up to speed with basic obedience training and integration, then we have you covered!

Prepare you and your dog to venture out into the big wide world with a new sense of confidence.

About CATCH-UP Class

Our 6-week Catch-Up Classes are designed for non-reactive, adolescent dogs up to 1.5 years of age and help owners teach their developing adult dogs basic obedience behaviours that were not effectively taught during puppyhood and goes some-way to begin unpicking some of the bad habits that may have been inadvertently created by the lack of effective training.

Basic Obedience

It is essential that a basic level of obedience is created and maintained for both the happiness of you and your dog. Focusing on basic obedience commands and making them effective is the aim of the game – nothing fancy, just rock-solid foundations.

Leash Pulling

Although this is not a full loose-leash walking workshop, we do focus some time encouraging (or untraining) your dog not to pull on leash. So many bad habits are built when walking on leash that can easily be addressed, so we do!

Focus & Attention

It is likely that your adolescent dog is no longer paying you the attention you demand and chooses to focus on more interesting stuff like sniffing and staring at other dogs. We focus on building and developing attention, so that their focus is more on you than other things.

Manners & Socialisation

Knowing how to approach other dogs, people and doorways is a must for a dog. Being jumped up at, nipped at, barked at or pulled towards another dog isn’t fun for anybody or any dog. Impulse control and manners are essential skills to develop.

PLEASE NOTE: A class environment is a place to learn and develop skills for you to take away and work on with your dog. Therefore it is important that you are aware that you will be expected to work with your dog regularly between class meetings, as this is where results will be seen.
